Diversity and Inclusion

Acknowledging our heritage, we are committed to creating an environment that respects, values and celebrates diversity and equality of opportunity and access.

An older person using a walking frame stands outdoors beside a staff member in a purple uniform in front of a modern residential aged care building. Both are positioned in a landscaped courtyard with stone retaining walls and large windows visible in the background. The older person wears a blue tracksuit and sunglasses, while the staff member wears a name badge and lanyard. The image highlights support, companionship and an accessible care environment.

Strategy in action

Uniting AgeWell’s Diversity Strategy is designed to embed inclusive service standards and build on the work of the Uniting Church by rejoicing in diversity. It is:

  • underpinned by a human rights based approach in line with the World Health Organisation principles of non-discrimination, availability, accessibility, acceptability, quality, accountability and universality;
  • reflective of the seven pillars of inclusion; access, attitude, choice, partnership, communication, policy and opportunities; and
  • visually represented by the Uniting AgeWell Diversity Flower (pictured).
Colourful circular infographic showing the principles and relationships that support person-centred care. The centre is divided into four stakeholder groups: customers, carers and families, staff, volunteers and Uniting Church, and community partnerships. Surrounding coloured rings contain the words “Believe”, “Excel”, “Support” and “Trust”. Seven outer circles represent key enablers: Partnership, Access, Attitude, Communication, Opportunities, Choice and Policy, each displayed with an icon and a distinct colour.
